The Harlem Yacht Club was originally established in 1883, and has been in continuous operation ever since, making it one of America's oldest yacht clubs. We enjoy a diverse membership, a bustling social calendar, spirited racing schedule, and a historic clubhouse offering magnificent views of Eastchester Bay and the Manhattan skyline.
From our location at the western end of Long Island Sound, we have access to the best cruising in the region. You could spend a lifetime exploring the hundreds of harbors and anchorages within the protected perimeter of the Sound. For a longer trip, head out to Block Island, the Vineyard, Nantucket, and the New England coast. In the other direction, it's just a short hop to New York Harbor from where you can explore the Hudson Valley or reach the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. We maintain reciprocal relationships with many clubs around the country, so wherever you go, you'll find a warm welcome and a home away from home.
For racers, we offer events to match any experience level. A full schedule of club races, participation in the local EBYRA handicap events, and an active J/24 one-design fleet. For those who don't sail, we even offer cardboard boat races (where the idea is to paddle across the finish line before your boat sinks beneath you). If you have trouble finding crew, our shorthanded series is what you're looking for.
We have a year-round social schedule, starting with International Night in January and running through to our December holiday party (when Santa shows up by boat). In between, we've got everything from a winter darts tournament to formal dinner dances. A full-service bar and award-winning restaurant provide a respite at the end of the day and well into the night.
