'loulou' Takes J/105 East Coast Championship

Once again, Paul Beaudin and loulou have triumphed. This time, they won the five-race J/105 East Coast Championships, part of the the 2026 80th Red Grant Regatta run July 11-12 by the Raritan Yact Club (Perth Amboy, NJ).

Thirty-nine yachts competed in the regatta's four divisions, the largest of which was the showcase12-boat J/105 ECC. loulou finished 1, 2, 4, 1, 1, for a total of 9--eking out a win over the second-place Solution (David Willis) with 10 and Magic (Ann & Gary Myer), with 13.

J-105 East Coast Championships at the Raritan Yacht Club Red Grant Regatta ended as a three boat battle going down to the last race between Paul Beaudin's loulou, Dave Willis's Solution and Ann and Gary Myer's Magic.

Champagne sailing conditions with 10-15kts and sunny skies had extremely tight racing. loulou had a two point lead to start the day but a bad gamble on the wind gave them a 4th in the first race. This moved Solution into the lead by 2 and tied up Magic and loulou. But, loulou was not going going down easily and stepped it up to take two convincing wins in the last two race for the victory. With Solution and Magic following for second and third respectively.
